My husband said this movie was surprisingly good and it definitely had some wow factor moments that kept my interest through the movie. Dialogue was cliche and even corny predictable, but they definitely humanized this movie and I keep reading how historically accurate it really was (E.g. Nick Jonas character was kidnapped and eventually drowned, but he was tortured and interrogated for 2 weeks.). I remember hearing about how this was the movie that Pearl Harbor should have been and I get that. I also get how this movie was trying to stand on its own by planting a lot of famous actors in crux leadership roles however letting the up and coming actors get most screen time. I wouldn’t mind watching again. I’m now googling and looking up Dick Best and the intelligence officer who called Pearl Harbor. I even thought it was better than this latest Tom Hanks Greyhound movie. Lastly, I appreciated the depiction of the Japanese characters in the movie too- while it was very unilateral portrayal, dialogue wasn’t any better for the Americans portrayed, as well. Lots of great Japanese actors represented here too.
