The movie explores the concept of non-violence in a way that makes us wonder the intricacies of human desires and emotions.
Although we assume it is the story of one hunter as the title says, the story is of the hunter in all of us.
The younger characters represent the human emotions of love, lust, greed, etc.; while the novelist Shikari Shambu(I'm not talking about the tinkle character); represents the desire for a spiritual life. We assume that spiritual desires occur only for the old. But we can see that the character Shambu was very mature and spiritual right from his younger days. This makes him produce some amazing literary works when he is wiser.
The plot of the movie is simple to understand. But it takes a good amount of insight to look into the deeper aspects.
At the end, he goes from being a shwetambar to a digambar signifying that he renounced everything drawing inspiration from Bahubali.
In the movie, Shambu wanted to leave behind a legacy of a well learned man. But due to the circumstances he goes through, he ends up choosing the path of renouncing his clothes too.
To the people of the village who would be alien to the different spiritual paths, a completely naked Shambu who they were earlier referring as half mad would have seemed to have gone completely mad. Although he had renounced everything, the only thing which would be stopping him from attaining complete liberation would be the guilt which was attached to him.
It's up to the viewers to assume whether his son gave him the news which would have finally liberated him.
People are all used to happily ever after endings. But Shambhu left a legacy which was astonishing to his fans.
There are a lot of deeper meanings throughout the movie. It is difficult to express the deapth and beauty of a piece of art with meagre words and this is just a humble attempt in doing so.
