My first viewing of film "Black Narcissus" took me a little by surprise because I didn't know quite what to expect; was this a tear jerker, a film noir, or plain melo-drama of the period? Well, a bit of all the above, but still translated into an absorbing experience of movie-watching. Great acting, cinematography and art direction contributed to the overall effect. Will certainly watch it again.

The Canadian movie Black Christmas from 1974 has lost none of its powers to simultaneously terrify and tease you with scare effects through its adroit usage of camera placement and effective lighting to keep the viewer literally on the "edge-of-his-seat" from first to final frame. This is absolutely the mark of a superior thriller, and helped usher in the whole "slasher" genre as well. Bravo to all involved in its production!
