My heart bleeds for the journos who are gauging 'Uri - The Surgical Strike' with stars in their reviews.... giving it a 2 star here and a 3 star there...
'Uri..' is not a film.. It is an experience, an emotion and a lifestyle.. and that can only be given your heart. It does not require any review or assessment. Your ratings will not turn reality into fiction and the Indian Armed Forces and their operations are beyond comprehension or critical analysis by the common man.
So you just watch 'Uri...' You watch it for the remarkable soldiers who have pledged their lives to their motherland and who jump to action with the fierceness of the lions at prey. You strike them, they strike you back.
You watch it for the bravehearts wedded to the olive greens.. The wives who live a life filled with dignity, pride, joy, fear and gloom.. They don't need wartime to realise that they could lose everything in a flash.. They know every goodbye could be the last. Yet they face each day with a smile and grace, celebrating what they can and when, knowing that this is the best life. That nothing is more glorious than a soldier at work.
You watch it for incredible sequences, depicted in crisp chapters, of the devastation and dangers that infiltrating militants can bring upon our peaceful existence.
You are glued to your plush seats as you watch in awe, respect and horror, the vivid scenes of the 'strike' .. You imagine yourself to be there with them.. You feel a surge of responsibility, urgency, fear, courage and.. pride. Your heart swells with admiration for our valiant army men, unafraid to sacrifice their utmost in the line of duty.
You are lucky to be watching it all.
Also watch it for mind blowing performances by the actors and slick direction, editing and photography... with meaningful and motivating bursts of music that lend utmost credibility to the whole drama.
For someone who is blessed to be a part of the esteemed organisation, I could proudly relate to this thrilling magnum opus, and the various chapters in our lives less ordinary ... The trials, tribulations and triumphs just make us stronger and more sensitive to the smallest mercies in life. A big salute to our gallant men and women in the armed forces who do not compromise with the security and peace of our nation.. Ensuring we get up well rested after their night of vigil, valour and victory.
So... Do you still need a reason to watch it..? 🇮🇳❤️
