A brilliant work of art and a highly adept performance by Joaquin Phoenix. Joker's mental health issues are explored as well as his broken humanity. This film also does well to highlight society's profoundly disturbing stigmatization of mental illness and mental health conditions. The direction, writing, and acting in this movie are all stellar. A dark and necessary trip into the mad decay of the abandoned but still human mind. In the last two years minimum, this movie has been the only one to not only live up to but surpass my expectations and hopefully soon yours too. If you see nothing else this year, get yourself to the theater and see Joker.
