Rei Man

The first half of Dune 2 was better than the Dune 1, then it got too weird. I did not like Dune 1 at all. This was better sort of. There were some interesting scenes and visuals. I’m glad I know the Dune story well, because this movie had gaps that could not be filled in without knowing Dune. I read Dune a couple times a year, and I feel for anyone trying to watch and understand this movie who hasn’t read the book. I think Dune is one of those stories that really needs narration and inner dialogue, like the 1984 version had. Also, Dune 1 and Dune 2 seemed disconnected at times. I dunno, it seems like Dennis did not have a clear vision. I kinda wonder if he based his screenplay on Jodorowsky’s adaptation? Lastly, movies like this should always and only have British actors.

This is an intense movie. Read the one star reviews, if you want to get a sense of how this movie will make you feel. You’ll hate Sandler’s character, most of the people around him, and you will leave the theater full of anxiety. I am not an Adam Sandler fan, but he did a great job here, along with most of the other performers. If you want to see a movie that will make you feel something, see this movie. Excellent film.
