I think too much of "modern" sensibilities ---or De-sensibilities, gets superimposed onto, in this case, the 50's...which I grew up in. I also agree with the reviewer who claimed there was no "backstory". I thought a chunk of movie was missing between when they first met and then all the sudden were a married couple --with 2 children.
