Well.... it's quite a wild bloodbath of a sequel. Sort of a remake of Halloween 2 which continued events from the same Halloween night when Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) was taken to the hospital. And here, this one continues on the same night when Laurie is taken to the hospital after her confrontation with the shape (aka Michael Meyers). Interesting cast, lots of graphic gore, brutal sadism, some truly idiotic choices the characters make(many should definitely know better). Michael's kills are pretty indiscriminate and the merging of story-lines from the original to the newer ones is interesting but I don't know that they fit perfectly because... well I probably have seen all of them but I don't remember some of them at all. There's a few scenes to get upset with (a couple of bordering on stereotype character types pop up and you know they aren't going to make it out of the movie alive). Not new, but we do build up to a mob mentality (the classic Ox-Bow Incident) after the wrong mental patient. It's a slick fast moving film that doesn't build much suspense because the audience knows the beats and what's going to happen. You'll need a really strong suspension of disbelief to make it through several scenes. Only a couple of times does it do something that not quite formulaic. The ending is a cheat... but that won't surprise you either. The original Halloween was stylish and not very gory. This one is a bloody mess -but that may be just what you want to see.
