Raven Noir

Isabelle Fuhrman and Julia Stiles are great and are the only reason this is watchable. The movie is more slasher style, campy, ridiculous and definitely not scary. It is actually worth watching just for the insane, absolutely ridiculous "twist" that appears out of nowhere in the middle of the movie. This movie is just a missed opportunity. Esther is a great character but this prequel is not even close to the quality of the 2009 Orphan.

Good effects. Like the rated R superhero/horror genre. Definitely some interesting, gruesome parts. Too bad this movie wasn't very scary and left me feeling unfulfilled. It was difficult to connect to the characters. A backstory, for the "kid", would have been nice. The kid was probably the only actor/character I enjoyed and I wish all questions surrounding him were answered more. That "costume" though haha. How did that costume design idea even come to light? There were so many plot holes and things to guess at that it's annoying. It almost seemed like a satire trying too hard. I actually laughed more than once and it was for scenes probably not meant to be amusing. I guess we're just to assume it's Clark Kent/Superman's evil doppelganger. So shocking. It was very predictable and unimaginative. Things jumped around and didn't make sense. It could have been a great movie if the writing and production was better. Throwing James Gunn around as producer doesn't make a movie good. Watch it if you want. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either. It's fun I suppose. At least it's a relatively short movie. If you want to watch a great antithesis to superhero movies/shows watch "The Boys" on Prime. Thats how it should be done.
