I agree with other reviews that this book was a difficult read. I have only just finished it and it seems so far removed from the other preceeding books. It felt as if the book was full of descriptive irrelevances with no strong story line. If it had been a standalone book, I would not have dragged my way through it, hoping for something to happen. I can only hope that in its own way, it is leading up to a tremendous final book we are all waiting for. This one will go down as a most forgettable read. It is well written, but if I had to sum it up it would be a drab and boring read. Sorry.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tourist. In my opinion it was the right mix of tension and light relief. One or two moments I thought were a bit corny, like the man falling down the well, but I was pleased to see real life shapes of people and I absolutely adored the acting of the 'rookie cop'. I don't usually watch programmes like this,

The milkman is essentially about a young woman living through 'TheTroubles'in Ireland and the effect and transformation on everyone . It has been skilfully crafted as the narrator talks about herself and the life she views around herself and her community . It is a deep book with at times a dark flavoured humour to it. It is beautifully detailed, frequently infused with a wry tone. Extremely insightful, I wholeheartedly recommend this book .It has such a rich Irish tone to the narrative, that you feel you are sitting and listening while she recounts events and her thoughts to you.
