Its pretty good, def darker and I don't know, less fluffy, goofy and sugary than any Star Trek series thats come before. Though I like all the ones that have come before, including the 60's original. All had good intelligent scripts and stories and good social observations to be imparted for any Sci - Fi fan and viewer with a brain.
Mind you , I really don't know why they have changed the look - aesthetic of the Klingon's so much. I mean there is some artistic licence, then there is a complete overhaul. For like 30 -35yrs + The Klingon look had slowly evolved into humanoid with tanned skin,a neanderthal like brow and ridges and long hair. And that stayed the same for so long, consistent with Star Trek cannon as to what the race looked like. Now its either very pale- vampire pale, or very black, and no hair at all and holes in their heads..where they had none before. They resemble something like the offspring of Nosferatu and 'Grey' space aliens would make now, than that of what was recognizable of what a Klingon was for so many years. As good as and a quality series as Star Trek Discovery is , overall. I feel they should not of have over hauled the Klingon's image so drastically, in such a short space of time. As a future slower evolutionary process thousands of years in the future maybe?. But not such a drastic change all at once, all in one particular S Trek series. I am sure I am not the only Star Trek fan and Klingon fan that feels this way? As much as I want to watch enjoy Discovery. The Klingon image overhaul does spoil the experience a little, as its such a shock to the system every time I see them. They took way too much artistic licence with it. Did they - the producers etc ,even think to take a survey, have a national or global consensus of what the fans thought before they did this?? Cause that would be the thing to do, before making such a drastic change within the Star Trek cannon verse yes?
