The fact that many key elements to the original story were drastically changed made it very cliche and boring, with no real twists or unexpected ideas that made King's story feel so close and haunting. I found it more horrific that Gage was killed, instead of a cliche young girl, and the novel made Victor Pascow seem more gruesome. Some of the scenes needed to be longer or not left out in my opinion, such as Pascow's death and the part about Church being neutered. I also didn't like how Norma wasn't included and the special effects just seemed to be just red liquid, rather than things like maggots in the intestines, which is a shame because I thought that would have been a fantastic chance for the movie to go all out in terms of gore.
