To preface this, I have never written a review for any form of entertainment ever. But this show enraged me to my core so much that I had to write this. The show starts of strong with intense and fun fights the first season. But the decline is so strong beyond that point. Everything the show was building up to in the 24 episodes in the first two seasons falls so hard on its face as characters suddenly become clowns compared to their former intimidation. This is all before season 3, in which they bring on a tournament arc, only to fall so flat on its face, that it literally got rid of all the tension within the first fight. Lastly the ending of the show, OH BOY THE ENDING (skip if you care about spoilers) Muhammad Ali Jr is built from the start of the season to be a foil to Aki, and so he is portrayed to match his strength. In the last 4 episodes however, the writers thought it would be too interesting to finish the season off with an intense fight between the two who have been building up to fight throughout the season. And so the writers get rid of every ounce of intimidation felt from said character and let’s him get absolutely obliterated five fights in a row. Ending with Baki, the one who the season was leading up for an intense fight with, ending in literally two punches, killing any stakes or intensity though out. If it weren’t for Ball’s dad and the fights he was in, I would genuinely dislike the Japanese culture for culminating in one of the most dissatisfying and garbage experience I’ve ever seen. Worst 9 hours of my life.
