As a filmmaker the quality of the documentary is beautiful with beautiful cinematography…
But alas, I am sad to post a 1 star. This was the most self-centered, disappointing story on behalf of the narrator. Every time he would discuss the plight of his “friend” taking place, he would make it about himself and go back to talking about himself. While the star to me is the octopus; she was truly incredible to watch, it was a disservice to such an incredible creature that this person would become her “friend”.
I also agree that he contradicted himself numerous times saying he wouldn’t intervene but did so by coming everyday. By the end, his lack of compassion for his so called “friend” was so apparent, I was begging internally for him to show love to the octopus that I thought in her final moments he just might, but again, he did not.
This documentary should have been called projection of mid life crisis onto innocent creature. As a documentary videographer and photographer this was the worst exploitation piece of a creature disguised as “friendship”.
