Sexuality, ageism, homosexuality, feminism, motherhood, gender equality, relationships, racism, dealing with cancer, dealing with addiction, emotions of jealousy, friendship, anger, the idea of a good wife, chronic sickness and even global warming.
There is not a single issue that has not been talked about and dissected in the show from all the possible perspectives.
There is a dialogue in the show where Grace says "...because that is what a good wife does" and covers her face with her hands almost immediately and Frankie calls her out.
She asks her what she said and Grace replies that she does realise what a terrible thing it was that came out of her mouth.
You see, it shows that that's how deeply rooted the idea of a good wife is that a woman in her 80s who has started two businesses, had her marriage break well in her 70s is capable of thinking what a good wife would do!
Also, the show has questioned the idea of death in the most sensitive way possible when babe decides to end her own life and that episode shows how her death has given birth to a new Grace and a new Frankie.
On the idea of happiness and money: We have Coyote in the episode who asks for a ten dollar bill for tacos and we also have a Nick who is filthy rich and leaves behind $20,000 for his wife and both of them are incredibly happy. It's beautiful how they have been fit in the same show. I mean, look at Brianna and Barry.
The show has depth, is politically correct, is aesthetically amazing and the end depicts how their life has come a full circle with their husbands having to come back to beach house, the way G&F did when they were told the big secret their husbands had been keeping for 20 years.
The writers have done a brilliant job and the actors have absolutely justified the script. Love the cast. Way to go!
