Fantasmagorie is a wonderful milestone in animation, and although people believe and often state "Humorous Phases of Funny Faces" as the first animation, which is true, it began with an artist drawing the characters, using a recording technique and not a stop-frame technique. This is the first full animation in film. The double exposure technique is brilliant and was revolutionary at the time, and this remains as one of the best animations for its time.
