NO SPOILER:
The Infinity War of Infinity War.
This could be the best Marvel film ever. When I enter the theatre, I could feel that this is it, the final chapter of a great expansive cinematic universe which I have been invested in since I don't even know there is connective universe.
The monumental achievement of this great film is that can handle direct momentum of 22 films of interwoven plots, characters development, visual effect and different vision of each film.
Each character from the film, in which their only connection is through a screen, felt like old friends.
The feeling that we share the up and down, we felt the grief, the anger, and the weight of their failure as if we could help. We also see how each of them deal with it in different way as if they were real along with the logic of their decisions whether were a clouded or made clearer by the unfolded events.
Every movie is made for the audiences. while we watch it, the feeling is as if the directors were reading the collective mind of the viewer. The way they execute each surprise, or each unanswered question in the back of our head is amazing, emotional, and fit perfectly well in story arc. Even the people who think Scarlet Witch is Gamora, cheered at the surprise they are able to drop in the middle of a fight scene. The fight choreography itself is flawlessly done, from the fighting style to the decision of each move blend in their characteristic.
However,
To build this monumental film without flaws is next to impossible. Although, near invisible, it has a big impact on overall narrative.
The movie has moved the audience like a rollercoaster, from sad, nostalgia to excitement but I felt "cheated" for a large part of film. I feel that they are using elements from previous installment, more than they should. The feeling that they "kill the dog at the end of the movie to get the viewer to be sad". You'll find this kind of cheats from the beginning to end. Some of them are not even serve a logical or narrative purpose other than pull at audience's heart string. That would be okay since they need to wrap up many ends to the film, but some the comedy however, are unnecessary, which lead to the long run time.
Avengers Endgame has a comedy problem. It is known that Marvel's film has sprinkle of comedic moments here and there but during the runtime, some of the jokes feel forced while they are funny, they did nothing for character's development or narrative. I find some of jokes play along the story progression, while others get their own pocket in the runtime. I watch Endgame twice now, these comedic moments does not work well the 2nd time.
It is true that "All films are made for the audiences" but it suppose to take them on a journey, not gives out candies everytime they asked for it along the way. it felt like Disney or anyone in charge, demanded more comedic relief. It gave off The Last Jedi vibes for what should be a serious movie.
For the audiences the value of movie doesn't come during, it come after theatre light turned on, and for this film, it came after the realization of 10 years of emotion invested come to spatacular end. you are saying goodbye to old friends, the end of an era.
This is the greatest movies in the MCU.
In this movie, They truly become "The Avengers"
I walked out the theatre satisfied, nostalgic, and the needs to go to the bathroom. A 9/10 masterpiece. Thank you 3000.
