Good old fashioned entertaining escapism. No overtly in your face preaching. Yes there was a moment of talk about a person's treatment for their obvious sexuality, being ostracized etc. Etc. but it was talked about for 2-3 minutes or less, it was about right considering the time period so yeah. Didn't bother me. The characters were classic fun. Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson work well together, quite a bit of playful verbal bashing, teasing etc. Both characters show their strengths without any character really steamrolling over the other because of some written superiority which I find is so common with the movies and TV/Streaming series of today. It feels exactly like it should, a modern incarnation of a fun and adventurous movie I'd have loved watching over and over as a kid.
Well worth watching no matter what your age.
