I enjoyed the portrayal of Sophi as a character who doesn't fit the traditional beauty standard, emphasizing her plainness and average appearance. In contrast, Howl is depicted as very beautiful, reflecting his popularity. Their love develops over time, focusing on their inner qualities rather than external beauty, ahead of its time for this concept. The exploration of jealousy and the true reason for Sophie's misfortune is compelling. The scenes where the characters become young again are particularly intriguing, highlighting the importance of self-perception. The film emphasizes that being youthful, happy, and cheerful makes one young at heart, key to breaking the curse. Love is depicted as the ultimate solution, along with a complex exploration of its meaning. I appreciated the flawed nature of the male characters and the reminder not to judge based on appearance, even affecting the stick man. Lastly, the portrayal of the challenges of aging deepened my respect for the elderly. The magical elements made this story truly an adventure. Definitely a movie I recommend, I hope these type of story tellings continues.
