In short, it works as a standalone film and not as a sequel to its original. One of my all time favorites, despite that though a good movie on it's own is However a terrible sequel. The way the original ended did not allow for a sequel but for Michael Parè makes this film a worthy watch. Understanding the story of rising above into one's self is Eddie's journey making this a compelling story of man torn in himself. Where the original was more of a rock and roll mystery this one is a character driven story of a broken rock and roller. The music is far more enjoyable than its predecessor, the acting and character driven story makes for a movie that is underrated. It should however be seen not in comparison to its original counterpart as its exposition story of the original events are retold through the lense of this sequel making it more of a standalone film. The choreography and lipsyncing is stop on and Michael Parè is the best part. Props as well to the supporting characters of Hilton Overstreet, and Rick Deisel.
