Surrogates is a minimalistic cyberpunk story that knows what it is. The problem is that it stops trying to build on its world and gives half baked ideas like a pseudo religious cult that hates machines because human god machine bad and a look into what surrogates can be used outside the public but only a little bit. Grier got what he wanted in the end but at the cost of crime going back up which was explained at the very beginning and its all ham fisted with the message of "go outside and enjoy being with others." If anything ACTUALLY deserves a remake its surrogates from how little it did to make its story immersive with a small runtime of 1hr 20min (the credits are 4 minutes). Diamond in the rough.

I defend the right for this to exist even if some stuff borders on the pedo side. Its not all about lolis thats just a part of it that I'll admit I shut out even when I was 14. And lets be honest the people who call it out on that still watched it and most likely saw other things that involve lolis because lets face it that and anime go together like milk and chocolate sauce. It has moments that are sincere when it doesn't do harem gags and 14 year old me is the only thing stopping me from rating any lower.

So cliche so void of life and so far from any of its original source material. If you like iron man just rewatch that because this is if it were dropped on the head as a baby by disney (the Max Steel series is from disney XD so I can make that connection). The tone of this is that of a ya film but without any of the love triangle stuff that keeps teens interested in it. Me being an old fan of the series I wish this got better treatment and people who actually knew who Max McGrath was.

What I like about it is it invokes challenge of real life and doesn't hold your hand. The only bad thing about it is how blank of a slate Lou Bloom is before Video news.

Its called anomalisa because its about a girl named lisa and her relationships are anomalies. Its the most bland thing youll see in claymation its all confined in t hotel. Every 5 star is pretentious

Look its more of a grounded film than action, DO NOT go in thinking it will be that way or youll end up falling asleep on your phone. Its a tale based on a true story even though it has a bunch of weird s**t put into it. Just pretend its the 4th godfather but it has magic dragon ladies and keanu reeves posing as half asian half speed mutant.

Apart from the assault scene its pretty solid. I dont think its one of those midnight films you throw popcorn at it has depth and chugs along.

I want to be nice to it. Its 10 cloverfield lane meets code 8, specifically code 8. Its got something to it. Solid 7/10
