In a parallel universe, the movie could be about a mother's PTSD, grief and schizophrenia and how that would affect her behavior after her daughter's death. At least this is how I have changed the ending of the movie in my own head not to feel I've wasted 2 hours of my life. The childish satanic touch to the film took it from a bad horror movie to a comic one.
