I was so excited for the series, specially the trailers hyped me up, with Rosamund Pike as Moirain Sedai.
However for some reason when I started watching the series it seemed very cringe from the get go. Unnecessary departures from the book do not add to the story. eg Sex scene between Egwene and Rand, or Moiraine and Lan, or Amrylin and Moiraine - They destroy the depth of bond between the characters and make it into hackneyed sex power play. Perrin being married does not add at all to the story and it seems to be his only defining trait.
The effects (other the channeling) look very cheap and series overall looked extremely tacky production. The village, Shadar Logoth, and Tar Valon look fake and break immersive experience. The fight with Logain looked so low budget, as if directed by college students.
The saddest part of the adaptation is that no charater has any depth - even those with great screen time do not transcend the standard cinematic tropes and 2 dimensionality of good and bad.
