This was something so unusual to me in that I don't usually go for dramas or period pieces but if you are having second thoughts about whether to watch this show or not let me stop you right there. Do NOT further read this review but go watch it. Just trust this writer and GO watch it. It took my breath away and it will yours.
But if you are looking to be convinced further, well let me tell you a few things. Spoilers ahead, of course.
About S2: Although I expected it to be similar to S1, this season was like no other drama I had ever watched, all the characters outdid themselves splendidly, but more than that I saw growth in all of them. I saw clearly how they had all become different, more mature versions of themselves. The Sharmas well, they brought me to tears. The ladies proved to be some of the strongest, articulate and talented ladies of the entire show. They wooed me on every end, their chemistry with each other was so splendid, considering their background and I was positively tearing up during the last episode. And the couple, I was devastated, initially, because I never thought Kanthony would work because they were both such strong characters, and they never let themselves waver, not even for a second and the entire season drove me nuts because I wanted them to realize what they felt for each other and what as a viewer I wanted to feel too.
In that last episode when Anthony said "I love you" it was unreal, it was as though a great beast had been humbled, and when Kate said it back I thought, FINALLY these fools realize how much they mean to each other and how sometimes you can't be thinking of your duties or your responsibilities but how much you love a person. I had never more felt as though I was in the presence of true love than at that moment when he confessed or that moment when Anthony cried hearing news that Kate had awoken or when he asked "Is that a promise Kathina Sharma"? My heart truly leapt out of my chest and onto the ground. And this couple will be one that stays with me for a long time just because of what they made me feel. After time passes you never remember the specific reasons as to why a couple of any show remains in you, except the feeling. Just that rush of emotions that you feel not because remember what they had gone through but you nostalgia you had when they failed, when they triumphed and when they made you feel as though you needed to take a different approach on things they battled with. I would also say the same for Daphne, Season 1, I thought her a naïve girl who had followed her Mama for so long she knew not herself, but in Season 2 she showed me truly, what an excellent duchess she was. Daphne and her strength remains with me as well.
And if this still hasn't convinced you then, perhaps you might read the reviews of others. But if this has, then I suggest you have fun with your own theories because it's going to be a BLAST
