I thoroughly enjoyed playing ESO. The community is really awesome (for an MMO)
I enjoyed the soundtrack, gameplay, and amazing dungeon boss mechanics. The endgame "veteran" trials/dungeons can be so unforgiving - if one party member slips up, the entire party is compromised and it makes for an enjoyable challenge.
The game is also not "pay-to-win". Having premium currency is only pay-to-win in the fact that you can trade it for regular in-game currency and then trade that for gear - but the best gear is dropped in these endgame dungeons and trials which is NOT trade-able outside of the party you went in with. With that being said, you can still have the best gear and be terrible at this game. The key skill required is timing. Timing your regular attacks with your skills, while maintaining all your damage over time attacks. someone with the same gear can get 30k DPS (above average dps for a casual gamer), while a pro can crank out 60k+ DPS. NOT PAY TO WIN.
The only reason I stopped playing was time commitment and IRL friends stopped playing.
