(spoiler-free) This game looks fabulous. The villains are challenging, the story/lore of course is great, it has a beautiful soundtrack, Dracula is incredible, has an awesome set of powers, and the combo system, game mechanics etc. are all really amazing. What really ruins it for me is that HE'S TOO SQUISHY.
The game leaves very little room for error, and is DEFINITELY not for those who want to explore the map and spend some time having fun. You are continuously pushed through the linear plot, and almost always find yourself someplace you don't want to be.
Besides, it's too easy to die in CLOS 2. Even a random group of 4-5 grunts can kill you if you let your guard down. The character starts off with a ruinously low amount of max health (may not even last 20 hits), and it's painfully difficult to increase it. You gain less than a sliver from killing enemies (and that's only if you use the finishing move). To be honest, I expected A LOT more vitality from a freaking vampire. It's not that you're always in danger of dying, it's that you're almost never in top shape.
The game gives you a lot to learn from the first minute itself - 3 attack modes, blocking/countering, combo buildup, finishing moves - which in itself is actually a great thing, but the least you can do with that is give us a character who will at least last long enough until one can learn it all effectively, if not someone who gets enough base stats to be able to afford mix-and-match. You CANNOT afford to experiment with anything in this game. The Void & Chaos magic orbs are literally so hard to come by that I feel bad for using them.
Another thing that bothered me was that many of the best moments in the game (like boss fights) are truly epic, but you can only play them once - there is no multi-save feature like in DMC (there is SO MUCH this game could learn from DMC).
Could have been a really great game, but it left me wanting more. A lot more. 6.5/10
