I Initially looked for “what is Neotheater by AJR”, expecting it to have some other kind of story, other than just “an album they made”... the songs featured in this albI’m are all so in depth, not just In the mentality of the musicality of each song, but each time I look into the lyrics themselves and how they apply to every kind of thing that a young man or woman would experience, honestly I feel like this album is the soundtrack to a movie about my life. Between the literally meanings of some lyrics vs what they mean metaphorically , and the tone set in their actual Structure of how the songs are arranged, you can play these songs to 5 different age groups and they will all come up with their own story of what they think it means to them. It is truly a masterpiece of modern writing, considering what else is being released in these past few years, it almost seems like an insult to call this ‘just’ “pop music”. Fantastic and relatable to all kinds of people and age groups, especially those with mental illnesses (like me), the fact that they are able to connect all kinds of people that enjoy this music, even just reading the comments from the people here, that’s true music: being able to produce music that can connect with any kind of people, despite age, gender, ethnicity, views on life, that is something magical, and I think we need more music like this in this world.
