Not overly difficult but the visuals and sound are top notch for a handheld, story is fun and can be skipped if you are just wanting to get right into gameplay. Experienced gamers may find challenge getting *A* rank in every level while casuals will not feel like tearing out their hair- so long as they are OK with barely getting by the last three acts of the game (about a dozen levels)
There is a total of 8 units to use, 4 melee ninjas and 4 ranged ninjas with great variance between them (Fast armor piercing rangers, an AOE melee ninja, slowness inducing ranger ect) There are also a good deal of AOE structures that boost any surrounding ninja huts with such properties as: Increased damage, increased respawn time, More "cookies" gained (games currency for building and upgrades) ect. There is another system of powers that can only be used when enough enemies are defeated filling the old ninja's staff with energy, this too comes with a great deal of unique power ups, but I have to leave something a surprise! The upgrades are linear boosting every stat a fixed amount. Do not expect to be overwhelmed in specialization options as the game focuses more on placement of units and timing power ups when most needed. Overall a rare title you may not have heard of, but you ought to check out! 4.5/5
