I have not read the original work that the film was adapted to but what I can say is that it hold true to today very well. This film is a perfect portrayal of what it is like to be a lower class minority effectively hurled in to an affluent world that we are not accustomed to, being entangled I their lives and decisions without a thought to the ramifications of their actions upon our own lives.The actor that plays Bigger is very good at explaining this in his narration and body language throughout the film. Being a minority myself I was very much able to relate to Biggers’s thought process throughout the film. “Am I being true to myself, am I turning my back on my heritage and my people.” All the subtle racism thrown our way daily that we take as formailities all the while trying to break out of the stereotype and then being criticized along the way. This film is definitely something the generation of today needs to see...
