Miles is full of self pity and detestation. He can't complete his work assignments on time - or even at all. When the fertility clinic calls regarding his upcoming appointments, instead of confirming the appointment they prompt Miles to reschedule - because they know he's never going to come in. Miles refuses to talk to his wife about anything. He is utterly worthless and seems beyond salvation. Until one day, Miles asks a friend at work how he transformed from shy and seemingly inept to the confident, "winning" man he currently is. The friend gives Miles a reference to a private, expensive spa that promises to "scrub" DNA and produce a better version of one's self. Soon, Miles finds the better version of himself inside his home in bed with his wife. Neither the pissant or primo version are sure what to make of this and so they head off together to the spa seeking an explanation. We then realize that the original (pissant) Miles was not supposed to survive, they (spa ppl) had intended to kill him. The other (primo) Miles is faced with the fact that he is not the original but instead a clone. Of course, the original Miles must contend with the fact that he is now the inferior Miles. Both characters suffer from this news and continue to do so throughout the season. Pissant Miles can't compete with Primo Miles. Primo Miles is great at his/their job and great at loving his/their wife. But Pissant Miles is the *real* Miles - with scars and all - in reality it's *his* job, *his* wife, *his* house and so ultimately he has the final say when it comes to Primo Miles's ability to live or have any part of the only life he has ever known.
It is really sad, thought provoking, and also amazing and happy provoking. Overall, I loved it. There were a few cheesy scenes and a few attempts at humor which conflicted with the overall tone of the show. But overall, this is a spectacular show, flaws and all.
I love you, Paul Rudd.
