I have mixed feelings about it. It’s clear what they’re trying to do but it just comes off as a Jordan Peele knock-off. I originally thought it was a sequel to Us. Anyway, the first episode does a good job with the hook, but the further you get into it, the more you realize it’s just ten episodes of Blacksploitation. We’ve seen 12 years a slave, we’ve seen Roots. We do not need anymore movies using the trauma and pain African and Black Americans. And being completely honest, I don’t think this release could’ve come at a worse time. Obviously it isn’t their fault since tragedies that are happening now aren’t predictable. But watching this on top of all the unjust and deeply upsetting current events is too much. :/
