Very entertaining and full of intrigue. ( tiny spoiler alert-) However, there are too many implausible turns- like episode 4, Baptist’s discovering the lost money via a suspect who had nothing to do with the theft. But our detective’s suspect just happens to have private voyeur cameras with the actual thief is coincidently filmed in one of his surveillance sites.
Then, Baptiste’s incredible naive choice leads to losing the money again. To solve the crime, he again uses the camera, this time miraculously retrieved from the dumpster In the season finale.
Tom Hollander’s acting helps the quality but not enough to save this haphazard series. He and Baptiste’s final conversation leave us wanting an improved season 2. Since his work is done, Hollander will not be back with Baptiste for that. But we Masterpiece lovers will likely be there for more unlikely action and outcomes.
