The movie is about a 16 girl who has an obvious power and no one can figure it out. There are other characters, but you probably won't even remember their names. The movie tries way too hard to be scary and fails miserably at trying to be cool. There is little to none fights, twists, or reveals. The movie just drags and you don't really learn or discover anything except the reason the kids are there. There is just no plot at all, the movie soley focuses on theme. The movie was also poorly written. At the end against the main enemy the first line to stop everything is simply "no" and then a talk down. They had a huge opportunity to have a light vs dark scene at that moment in the film and it would have been a perfect conclusion in my opinion. The film is just sloppily written and all the characters seem like dull and they aren't the brightest.

Don't listen to all the hate the show may not have the ideal artwork, but nonetheless the show is just as good and I would say it's just as good as the movies. That being said there is a lot of information that is missed, but it's not hard to figure out and the show still is solid without it. Highly suggest giving it a chance just try the free trial on crunchyroll if you can if not there will be annoying ads. If you really want to get the whole story and the best of it then I suggest reading the manga, but I know not a lot of people are willing to go through the trouble aka me ;)
