A modern fairytale about a French woman whose life is turned upside down when she meets a reclusive bookseller and his young daughter. Before she realizes entirely what is happening, Juliette agrees to become a passeur, Soliman’s name for the booksellers he hires to take stacks of used books out of his store and into the world, using their imagination and intuition to match books with readers. The Girl Who Reads on the Métro is a delayed coming-of-age story about a young woman who dares to change her life, and a celebration of the power of books to unite us all.
I loved the synopsis & was so excited to read this book, who won’t be right? Look at the beautiful book cover, Paris setting, Main character loves books but it felt forever to read & was not I light read as I was expecting it to be. I couldn’t connect to the characters though at moments I enjoyed it but I was not sure how I felt about this one once I finished the book
You know how there are some books that you want so badly to love and be all merry about it but somehow it seems impossible, this is exactly how I feel about this book
If you have read this book & loved it more than I did, please tell me I would definitely want to talk about it
Thank you Flatiron Books for gifting me an advanced copy of this book
