Forty nine years ago this book was adapted by my teacher as text for the course of mathematical physics which I was taken as an elective.By study of this book I discovered the difference between pure mathematics and the type of mathematics used by engineers and physicists.the very fact that this book has gone under many revisions and editions is the proof that it is alive.
