I’ve read all of the novels and have a soft spot for the original movie. The 80s version was why I read Dune as a kid. I’ve known and loved the series since I was a child, so this movie meant a lot to me and I’ve been so disappointed with adaptions of my childhood favorites. This was certainly no disappointment. The movie was beautifully done. Casting was perfect and the writers and director stayed true to the story and incorporated so much from Herbert’s masterpiece. The additions were all well done and within the spirit of the story. The special effects; body shields, the worms the ornithopters etc. were just all so perfect. I’ve watched it twice already and will again. I cannot wait to see the next installment.
