I agree. A really compelling movie.
Unfortunately, I was left with the impression that so many Dutch citizens, including Jews, were only too willing to betray Jewish people to the Germans, for a share of the loot, or to further their own protection.
It again showed the ruthlessness of the Germans in their willingness to kill Jews with such fervour, even enjoyment.
I really don't like it when so many people refer to the 'Nazis' doing all this. They were German people, Germans - with some being Nazi Germans.
But how true was my impression? Were huge numbers of Dutch people willing to betray their fellow citizens for a share of the loot?
In the last scenes of the movie, where a guy was screwed down inside a coffin, who was that? Was he the bald Nazi German, as I had hoped?
