Honestly, I don’t know where to start. I can’t understand why people who like this movie like it. If you haven’t seen Iron Man, then go see it. Then compare the two. This has no special effects (at least, those that are convincing and well-done), and it’s clear that the suit is made out of painted plastic. The acting is cringeworthy and just plain horrible. Originally titled “Iron Hero”, the story is about a scientist and another man that builds a suit of armor. Then, an industrialist seeks to use it for power. The two eventually face off, and the hero wins, of course. Now, here’s Iron Man: Tony Stark, a self-centered billionaire, gets captured by the Ten Rings, a terrorist group in Afghanistan, who also has Ho Yinsen, a guy Tony had met at a technical conference in Bern, who Tony does not remember. Tony is forced to build his Jericho missile for them. Instead, he and Yinsen built the Mark I suit to escape. He escapes, but his suit fell apart mid-air. Fast forward a couple days and Tony’s back home. Obadiah Stane, his mentor after his father Howard died and was secretly behind the plot to kill Stark, welcomes him back. The Ten Rings find the suit and try to reassemble it. Stane goes to Gulmira, where Tony was held, and takes the armor, as well as the Ten Rings guards’ lives. He finally reassembles it, then comes to kill Tony himself. He failed and died in the process.
From the trailer of Metal Man, one can see it would already be bad. I didn’t even watch the English version, and I still could see how bad it was. This movie is just a mockbuster of Iron Man that tried to capitalize off of the movie and failed.
What’s more is that when Iron Man 2 released, Midnight Releasing wanted to try and profit yet again, but instead of making a sequel they just repackaged it and slapped the title “Metal Man” on it. Anyone could make a better and more convincing movie than this.
