I found this film engrossing, disturbing, inspiring and chilling in its similarities to what is happening today. Fred Hampton’s execution by the police reminded me of the police murders of unarmed Black men like George Floyd and Black women like Breonna Taylor. The brutality of the Chicago police & Mayor Daly’s national guard against unarmed protesters in 1968 reminded me of the brutality by Trump’s militia & the police against unarmed protesters in Portland, OR, Washington, DC and cities across the nation in 2020.
I am grateful to Aaron Sorkin & Netflix for bringing this film to us just weeks before we voters will have the chance to use our Constitutional right to peacefully remove a president who has been far worse even than Nixon. Hopefully those who are undecided will watch this film and vote for an end to this systemic brutality. We must stop repeating history of the sort we saw in 1968/69 and have continued to see being made today!
