Knocking off 1 star for the price point. This game definitely should have been a $30 release at the highest. I really do not understand the hate other than this particular reason. The world is really cool and fun to explore. The combat is fine, you just can’t mindlessly run into a group of enemies mashing melee and expect it to work. Certain attacks stun and stagger, you have special moves that can launch and juggle; and if you get overwhelmed, your character is agile so you can leap around out of harms way peppering enemies with bullets and psi abilities (actually really satisfying fights once you get the hang of it). I personally like the narration as it’s styled like it’s being told to you like a storybook. I hardly think that’s a point to complain about if you don’t like it because it’s a design choice. That would be like complaining about, say borderlands, because you don’t like the cel- shaded art style. Are some quests repetitive? Sure. But it’s the same in every other open world game on the market. The game does have some issues with frame rates at times on the ps4, but only really before cutscenes and area transitions. I’ve thankfully never seen it happen during something crucial like combat as that would frustrate me to no end and this review would be far worse. All in all I am only about 8 hours into the game and thoroughly enjoying it. I will definitely play through the whole thing twice(dark/light) but then most likely put it down until more content comes out. Hence my criticism of the fact that it is $60.
