Santhanam shows a lesson to all on how to tolerate Sodhappum Maama & machchan pair of Thambi Ramiah and Bala Saravanan. Still planning something to gain from the misadventure of a murder, taking along them and more will be a herculian task, that Santhanam only can accomplish with his usual punch(witty) dialogues. Priyalaya with glamourous look and great facial expressions excels in acting. Deeply think If you are asked to act as a dead body how will you act? Should it be standing, lying, sitting - should you pose firm hard face, sorrow face, smiling face, neutral face, what would be the body language of dead body. Oh my God so much to think about. If I say Vivek Prasanna did it the best any one can, would you believe? Story is moving at appropriate speed and I will put it on the fast side, as without hangups. Manobala's broker character was very nicely done by him as usual. Out of the recent Santhanam films, this one for me stands out without any confusion in story. I gave 4 stars. If there is half point system I would have given 4.5 points

Wonderful action by all actors, especially Nayanthara, Achyuth Kumar, Sathyaraj, Karthik Kumar, KS Ravikumar. Jai character is wasted. Videography is top notch. Direction was nice. But the problem I can see was, this plot is converted into promoting meat eating, and it projects the message that to be chef you need to eat meat. It also says success is measured in terms of plum salary and top of some profession although that success affects the community/family tradition and your parents standing and prestige. Is it really Indian way of thinking? Even few years ago Tamil movies were projecting heroes and heroines as giving top priority to respecting father/mother, and long established good traditions. Now this plot is in direct contrast to majority of the known Tamil film values that were established over many decades. Somehow in between plot movement director and writer must have realised that they have to show some sufferings for heroine who abandoned her parents and vegetarian hereditary culture. The film shows Heroine as caught in fire accident and as losing her most important qualification for a chef -taste buds. Till the end she didn't regain the taste, but lives with that. Are they indirectly giving a message for traditional vegetarians, that if those vegetarians leave vegetarianism, they would suffer. If the heroine stood by her father and still got into Catering Institute with exception for meat handling and participated in competition and won, then that would have been a great story. This story is that of a weak Indian woman who surrendered all her family, caste and culture at the feet of catering moghuls. I think this film gave a black mark character to Nayanthara, she should not have accepted the role.

One has to be strong enough not to be caught in the BM spell film wanted to create, using the 2.40 hours to praise and superimpose Vijay in to one's psych, through bg music, songs, action, dance fight, other characters etc. treating or converting everyone as Vijay Fan. MOST OF THE REVIEWS HERE ARE BY ARDENT VIJAY FANS AND PLEASE TAKE THEM WITH A VERY LARGE ALLOWANCE FOR PARTIALITY. Looking at the film without getting tagged as a fan, this film has many good things, VIJAY'S IMPECCABLE ACTION, and rich scene formations, but most important absence is proper story and almost full presence is violence. Whatever the story is, it is very thinly built and tiny. That revolves around a family man, whose family thinks why so many dons come and disturb them. Even the little story falls off flat in the second half. Arjun or Sanjay Dutt characters were wasted. Anirudh’s BGM and song praising hero have become so mechanical and cant distinguish between the previous ones like Jailor and this one. Variety is not just changing words and hero name, the core should be different. Vijay and director should have insisted that the music and songs should be quite different than Rajini or other hero films. Falling into complacency and do the same kind as specialisation doesn't work for music directors, in Tamil. Vijay’s character & acting were one of top classes.Camera and scene formation were top class. With so many great actors at his disposal, if director planned an intriguing story with some kind of morale (expected from Vijay films) we would have come back fully satisfied. I again and again reiterate that the heroes are there because of the patronage of society and heroes have to give back, not in just action alone, but also some kind of guidance and lead in at least one or two aspects of life. For that never concentrate in cruel fights or superficial love scenes, but take up a cause of the society as Vijay did in his many other films. This film is missing in that thanks giving to the society. Please please all Tamil Films don't compete on how to make fight scenes as cruel as possible. In this film in couple of scenes Vijay will symbolically close child's eyes so she doesn't see the violence. But all over the film predominantly violence is the king. How come Censors allow such violence, as a matter of routine without qualifying the certificate? If Vijay closes his child's eyes he himself indicates that Violence is unabated in this film, Movie goers please avoid taking their kids to the film. The film as per Wiki says is based on A History of Violence by John Wagner Vince Locke - some important missed out and added up and spruced up things make LEO story not a fit for Tamil audience. Either you make as per original fully, or write a good story befitting Tamil Audience.

It is very difficult and challenging to continue from a great hit of Rajni and be part of the continuity. May be director chose Raghava Lawrence as he acted in no. of ghost films, mostly comedy ones. The foundation of thinking was shaking in many parts of the film because audience saw Chandramukhi 1 as not ghost drama/comedy film, but there were many comedy scenes very delicately done by Rajni Sir. Wherever Rajni was - it is skewing toward action movie and not drama, except of course "Mullum Malarum". Chandramukhi was almost like a unique film category, it handled ghost with delicate touches. To define that in the generalised category of Horror Comedy/Drama and choose a hero good at that genre mostly seen as ghost comedy hero, was an initial mistake. If I was in director's position to choose the hero, and bring a successful film I would have gone in for primarily action hero with humour attachment. That would have been a box office hit. Even the sentiments of Chandramukhi I and its second coming was riding a wave in Tamil Nadu - but the cast of Lawrence Raghava as hero puts most off immediately. It is a missed chance of some Rs.100 crores in box office. I liked many Lawrence Raghav films. But it is about his suitability for this particular film. Even a new hero could have been introduced, People could have seen any one acting as continuity of Rajni, with guaranteed grand exposure. Still loyalty to Rajni Sir and his great film has brought many audience to Tamil to theatres - Rs.34 crore out of 60 crore budget shows it is not a flop. If one has the patience to watch past the first part (for which I cant give more than1 star) , then some real actions are there by Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut. Throughout the film our beloved Vadivelu tried his best to bring in the comedy, very much needed in this film.Music and songs and Dance are good. The fight scene towards climate is good to watch. But based on my reviews, please don't go straight after interval to the film, there are some enjoyable scenes also in the first part. My special mention about Director P.Vasu, who maintained lite sattire to the Tamil Cinemas for decades. His direction in this film is good as usual.Story lines, dialogues and scenes in the first part could have been more attractive.. I would recommend to see the film at least once. The first half didn't have a clue of what the second half is going to unfold, that is a problem of building up something without any reason or any expectation. So nice a theme that should have. been given a hint in the first half and that should have made viewers looking forward to every scene. I thought it was a negative theme as Ajit Sir did in earlier years and I was about to even leave the theatre as there is no justification for him to do that now. But for having stayed for the whole film had its pleasant surprise to me seeing the Director's logical thinking and remedy for a particular incident level of a social malady of company structures and escape routes for the bankers/financiers. I am really impressed by the Thala Scene with contract signing with John Kokken. How Ajit Sir beautifully puts out funnily but effectively the bankers controlling the customers through fine prints in the contracts. My heartfelt thanks for bringing this issue out. Thala does his usual fan binding acts and comes out thoroughly enjoyable. H.Vinoth's work was meticulous. Mahanadhi Shankar acted so lively to bring laughters as and when he is in the scenes as innocent cop turned top police negotiator on Don given powers. As DGP Dayalan, Samuthrakani excelled to have all the logic and swiftness of top quality. John Kokken as top bank boss villain was trying to prove as real match to Ajith Kumar and succeeds to high degree. Not much scenes for for Manju Warrior and Nayan Sai , but they do properly, whatever was given to them. Yogi Babu is not fully utilised. I was in a mood to give only 1 star when I was watching the first half; but because I stayed on and suddenly found a good plot and message I changed my rating at the end to 3.5 stars. In google as there are no half stars, then adding half a star for the real life character of Ajit Sir it comes to 4 stars. If I was film editor, I would have tried to impress the team about changing some scenes from second half to first half. Then the overall negative reviews would have been eliminated. I feel in few more recent films also the tempo building without substance worked against the films. Still Ajit Sir's charisma carried the films through. But please dont take chance for your next film. Jhansi Rani relived. This film brings back the Queen's history in its entire bravery and glory. She was intelligent, quick and brave. She will dare to encounter anyone who challenges her people. She can defy customs and traditions for the sake of saving the country. How can you depict on modern film, a Queen with a combination of beauty and valour, but within the historical boundaries? Kangana Ranaut didnt act, but just lived like the queen scene by scene. Her facial expression of anger, courage and bodily enactment on and off the fighting arena made us feel spellbound. K. V. Vijayendra Prasad knit the story and screen play in such a way not to give a single non-attentive minute for audience. Such an engaging wholesome movie. Jisshu Sengupta did very well the the majestic but innately sad (for having to take orders from British) Gangadhar Rao character. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Sadashiv did the betrayal part very well. Atul Kulkarni as Tatya Tope and Richard Keep as General Hugh Rose excelled in their characters. We know there is a dispute of who directed which scenes or who is major director- Krish or Ranaut - but when I saw the film we didnt differentiate between the directions, so I think the screenplay takes all credit, as it should have been meticulously discussed and fine tuned. War scenes with a lady in action have to be handled carefully. Yes this film runs that path on a knife edge and succeeds. Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy songs inspire. Background scores of Sanchit Balhara, Ankit Balhara is of highest note. Over all I will give 7.5 out of 10
