i would say the old man is the culprit along with hero. he saw hero with lover in temple and instead of confronting them then and there. he escaped. didnt tell anyone at home as well. as stupid and cunning as the hero.

looks like this is a series of boring village stuff. last 2 weeks had been nothing but some boring death rituals and a lot of crying. Horrible. Guess the writer director had no plot in mind
