Today is Cinco de Mayo and I was so excited when I heard Gayle mention it towards the end of the show. The next thing I know she is talking about how a new chipotle has opened up around the corner from their building. Latinx stories are rarely featured on this show. I absolutely loved the piece that was covered just after that about a young man tracing his family history all the way back to slavery and the family cemetery that has brought them closer together. When I compare that piece to story that could have been about Mexicans in the U.S. and instead pivoted to a Chipotle restaurant, I am beyond disappointed.
