I'm pleasantly surprised by Slasher, specifically season 3. I'm initally kind of leery of "wokeness" in a series, but it's reflective of a trend in popular culture and horror tends to be the lens of that sort of thing, so it's not so in your face where they kill someone for misgendering someone.
SPOILER WARNING.
I thought that the twist that the Druid was Jen and her brother was really interesting. The whole motive is sort of an invective of the Bystander Effect and how social media makes it all the more prevalent. These kids are being directed by their step mother to take revenge on all the people who watched their mother commit suicide after a tweet goes viral and attracts trolls. Admittedly, the "trolling" is a bit overblown - seriously, do none of these people know how a Block button works? Or bothered to call the police after the first threat and doxxing? AND as someone who's semiactive on places like /pol and in the political theater, I find it very hard to believe that a mean tweet in the wake of a murder would elicit THIS kind of reaction. - but it's still a sufficiently effective motive.
The show looks phenomenal. The Druid costume is memorable and slick - seriously, LOOK AT THAT MASK - and the kills are gruesome. I do have some issues suspending my disbelief that a 15-year-old girl who probably weighs a hundred pounds if she's soaking wet could do some of these kills (pinning down a woman and shoving a drill into her forehead for example) but I was sufficiently entertained. Overall, 8.5/10.
