This show was in hindsight was a total waste of time. Sure it was grand and elegant but so what? I bought into all the twists in the plot and romantic tension, but to not have resolved this story as Jane Austen would have is a travesty. Who would ever want to watch this again, as we have watched Pride and Prejudice time and time again, simply to hear the endearing words "dearest and loveliest Elizabeth?" No man would walk away from the love of his life in deference to his brothers, no matter how much was at stake. He would have found another way! So many things were left dangling, or worse, crafted in such a way as to create no hope that they'd work out in the future. For example, it is unlikely that Charlotte will ever return to Sanditon with Sidney's ties to the town, so therefore unlikely to reunite with Mr. Stinger. How about Miss Lambe's fortune? Can he tap that? Andrew Davies and his accomplices Masterpiece and PBS have toyed with their audience with cruelty. I am thankful Dickens wrote the ending to Little Dorrit.
