Dragons of Pern books were my introduction to science fiction/fancy. I enjoyed them so much. Also they were the perfect subway (i.e., NYC) read as they were more novellas than novels, so one could finish them on on subway ride and never miss your stop.

I have so much admiration for the work that Tia et al do in saving dogs. This is actually the only reality show that I watch. Unfortunately, not having a TV I have to rely on internet and I no longer can get full episodes.
