Totally 100% indifference and despair. The only three characters to show love are the favorite Teddy Weizak the night watchman. Everyone loves Teddy. He has love and hope. He is the real hero of this show. The second is Tom Cullen. Lets face it. Its stereotypical that he has love to give. The third is are villain Randall Flagg. He is way more inviting than Mother Abagail, even if its in a cheesy salesmanship way. Those three are the pros of this show. THE CONS!!!! Stu Redman. He spooks Harold while Harold is urinating! Ask anyone from East Texas and they will tell you that is poor manners. Insight into his life when he meets Glen he says he loved his wife then its was like enough about my wife "boy there are a lot of deer running around". Frannie. Harold admits his love for her and she rejects him in the coldest way possible the has the nerve to ask "are we good Harold ?". To further insult Harold she tells a stranger her most intimate secret that she is pregnant. Nick Andros. H showed more compassion to the man that took his eye than he did to meeting Tom. He had nothing but contempt for Tom at their meeting. To top it who would know you can not speak by putting a pinky finger to your lips like Dr Evil. Tom figured out that Nick can not talk faster then I would have. Mother Abagail. Our first scene with her is just a silent old woman in the middle of a corn field. She latter tells folks to come find her. There is not a smidge of warmth coming from either of these dreams. When Nick does find her it is far from a warm welcome. "Wow you found me!". She yells at Nick for sending spies west. In the original it was her idea or at least had her blessing. Now were to believe they would make a decision without talking to to woman who GOD gives instructions to. Larry Underwood. He started off strong showing much love for his mother. When on the road he meets a woman and child that need his held desperately and he is almost willing to let them fend for themselves. Episode five is where I will have to stop watching. Our spy was there to observe. Our spy would never be so clumsy to ask questions "around town" to cast suspension on her self. Same episode Mother Abagail yells at Nick. Mother Abagail from the original would never express anger like that at her children. She had nicer things to say about Flagg and his people. The number of one ratings tells me that im not the only one disappointed in this remake. The actors have done a phenomenal job on the show. It is not their fault they were given such gloomy scripts to read. When fighting the Devil in a movie or demons in our real lives we have but one weapon. That is LOVE! Hope is awe so powerful too! There is enough indifference and despair in the world we do not need to be reminded of it on a television show also.
