The good: Acting, transitions from past to the current day in the story. The clever way of involving Chess as a sport drama. The main actress was believable. The style and wardrobe was perfect. The bad: The main character was not likeable. She had little to no redeeming qualities and the people she used kept coming back for more. The modern value system placed back then made it more jarring. Russians cheering her? Never apologizing to her teacher? Communism good.. Christianity is crazy. Every male has no back bone outside of her real dad, evil,or gullible. All in all, if these values of today line up with you this might be 5 stars. If not and just want a change of pace drama while overlooking moral double standards .. you might enjoy this well designed, turn your brain off series.
