This movie is extremely transphobic. Jim Carrey’s character, Ace, made out with a person who found out to be trans, Lt. Einhorn, and he goes on this whole montage of vomiting, brushing his teeth, and using mouthwash at the idea of engaging in sexual contact with a trans woman. Then, at the end, he rips her clothes off in front of a bunch of people and shows them where her gen’s tali’s is tucked. They all proceed to vomit and freak out. This behavior is disgusting. It makes me so sad that this is a staple in many people’s childhoods.

I love RuPaul and the drag queens that made cameos but the show was not good. The writing was very poor and very unrealistic writing. The acting wasn’t very good either, especially on AJ (who was very annoying) and RuPaul’s parts. I also found it interesting that the show was trying to teach us lessons, which is nice, but it sounded too preachy. The show really tried to be funny when it wasn’t, which made it worse because it dragged on and on with countless pointless scenes. However, I really enjoyed the cameos from former drag race stars and the theatrics and the beautiful costumes and wigs RuPaul wore. Pose is so much better. It’s pretty accurate, not kitschy, and successfully did what AJ and the Queen tried to do: have great acting. It’s on netflix, just like this show.
