Artfully painful to watch, for me anyway. Vicious bullying and mocking countered by profound kindness and love lead to a not-so- surprising conclusion, given the era and the anger of some folks on the periphery of what was deemed acceptable back then.
Benedict Cumberbatch is incomparable as a gritty American cowboy, ranch owner, intellectual, and overall nasty man.
Now that I'm into this review, the name of the young actor who is maligned practically throughout the entire story escapes me. HE WAS EXCELLENT TOO!
