I'm 77 and took my teen grandsons. I was on the edge of my seat almost through the entire movie. The audience clapped at the end! It was TERRIFIC!

If it weren't for Gerard Butler, I'd have avoided watching this movie. It looked predictable. A wild action movie all the way! Had my heart thumping! Don't miss it!

I'm captivated. The lovers are totally a match and exquisite to watch. The bad guys, I must admit, are stereotypical, but necessary for plot developments. The subplots are engaging too. Ladies -- of you still think there's a perfect man out there, watch this series. I can't speak for men, but I'd surmise they'd enjoy the intricate stories as they unfold and surprise.

Fabulous to see the Human Condition through the lead characters' constantly intersecting paths chosen. Superb series!

Many would give this film a five. I'm choosing four because it will not appeal to a sizable number of people. It's one of those "child-surrendered-to-the-system-mother-figure-wants-to-reconnect" movies. I won't tell you whether that happens or not. Sandra Bullock plays a convincing ex-con so much so that I wanted to reach into the screen and comb her hair! That's only one detail. Her overall demeanor, her walk, her angry side, and her savvy all point to years of prison life. WELL-ACTED! There's a lot of grittiness in the various settings reminding us of the hard, ugly places in our nation too. Also, well done!

Artfully painful to watch, for me anyway. Vicious bullying and mocking countered by profound kindness and love lead to a not-so- surprising conclusion, given the era and the anger of some folks on the periphery of what was deemed acceptable back then. Benedict Cumberbatch is incomparable as a gritty American cowboy, ranch owner, intellectual, and overall nasty man. Now that I'm into this review, the name of the young actor who is maligned practically throughout the entire story escapes me. HE WAS EXCELLENT TOO!

"It's always the quiet ones!" Don't let any soft-spoken lad or lassie in this family gang fool you. They're the most ruthless. Compelling show! The setting in Dublin is eye-appealing as well. Hope we see more of the city in Season 2.

Well, I lasted through its entirety. So, there's THAT. I kept waiting for it to get better. Rachel Brosnahan tries nobly to make something of this movie to her credit. That's IT. Yes, it's about female empowerment. But it's written, seemingly, by high-schoolers-at-best. Pretty awful. And the baby's crying! WHEN would it stop? I got the "It's hard to be a mother part." early on. I think Ms. Brosnahan fulfilled the terms of her contract with this film. It's pretty awful. Just my opinion.

Loved it! And, so what if it smacks a bit of "soap opera-ism" as others have opined. The series is realistic, beautifully acted, and incorporates the issues of the times. I enjoyed every minute! As for the viewer who stopped watching when the subtitles popped up -- her LOSS.

I LOVED this series! While my exposure to chess is minimal, this story dealt with far more than the game of chess itself. On the negative side - it addressed extreme adversity, childhood trauma, rejection, discrimination, and addiction. On the positive side - kindness, enduring friendship, maternal caring, support, TALENT, and self- confidence. I may have left some areas out! You'd think of being overwhelmed by all this, but you're not. You're rooting for the central character, Beth, from start to finish. Can she live up to your vicarious hopes? Watch and see.
